Ik ben vaak verhuisd in mijn leven.
Dat heeft mooie en minder mooie kanten.
Door al dat verplaatsen voelde ik me nooit écht onderdeel van een groep, een land, een cultuur.
In Almere vind ik voor het eerst stabiliteit.
Bij mijn man.
Bij mijn buren.
Bij de mensen van de stad.
Hier maken de mensen de stad.
Soms ga ik terug naar de plekken waar ik eerder was.
Maar Almere wint altijd.
Ik krijg hier kansen om te blijven groeien.
Vier er de kleine dingen in het leven.
Droom over kinderen die op zullen groeien in deze stad.
Mijn toekomst is hier.
Ik ben een ‘local’ geworden die hier niet geboren is.

I’ve moved around a lot in my life.
That has a good side to it, and a not so good side.
With all that moving around, you never get to really be part of a group, a country, a culture.
I found stability for the first time in my life, here in Almere.
With my boyfriend.With my neighbours.
With the people of Almere.
It’s the people that make this city.
I sometimes return to places I’ve lived before, but Almere wins, every time.
I’ve been given the chance to continue growing here.
You need to celebrate the little things in life.
Dream about kids that will grow up here.
My future is certainly here in Almere.
I’ve become a ‘local’ just one that wasn’t born here.
