ROOTS: Colombia
Een beetje Colombia in Almere.
Dat was het idee, toen ik hier kwam wonen.
En dat lukte.
Ik zeg altijd: “Ik ben in mijn vakantiehuis hier.”
Het is er prachtig.
Natuur alom en een oase van rust.
Als je Almere verlaat, reis je over een brug.
Almere voelt als een eiland.
Je kan er vissen, naar het strand, met de boot.
In Colombia beschermen we de natuur.
Tenminste, de meesten.
Ik schrok me rot, toen ik hier voor het eerst de winter meemaakte.
Alle bomen werden kaal!
Ze leken wel dood.
Maar dat bleek heel normaal te zijn hier.
Ik kon niet wachten tot de lente begon.

A little piece of Colombia in Almere.
That was the plan when I came to live here.
I did it too!
I always say: This is my holiday home.
It is so beautiful here.
Countryside all around and a veritable oasis of peace.
To leave Almere, you have to cross over a bridge.
It makes Almere feel like an island.
You can fish here, visit the beach, go boating.
In Colombia, nature is very much protected.
At least, for the most part and by most people.
I got the fright of my life when I experienced Winter for the first time.
All the trees lost their foliage!
They looked dead.
Turned out, that was completely normal here!
I couldn’t wait for spring to come.
